The SID notification is used to provide the vessel's identification details for a port call involving a vessel arriving at a Finnish port.

If a new vessel is added in NEMO when creating a port call and the vessel's information cannot be found in the NEMO vessel information service, the system automatically creates SID and SHP notifications in draft status for the port call so that the vessel's identification and basic information can be provided before the NOA notification is submitted.

Please note:

  • Only a submitted notification updates vessel information stored in the NEMO vessel information service. Notifications that remain in draft status do not update any information.
  • If a new value for the same information is reported later, the most recently submitted value will remain valid.
  • If a submitted notification is subsequently cancelled, information already stored in the vessel information service is not automatically removed. Correct any erroneous information by submitting a new notification with the correct details.

Read more about adding a new vessel to NEMO and the vessel information service in section 3.3 Vessel information.

Information to be completed

Complete the information using the format shown in the vessel's official documents.

Some fields are automatically populated based on information available in the NEMO vessel information service. Check the information and update it only if changes have occurred.

Ship name DE-005-01

Enter the vessel's name.

Ship call sign DE-005-05

Enter the vessel's Call Sign.

The call sign is the vessel's primary identifier used for radio communications.

MMSI number DE-005-04

Enter the vessel's MMSI number.

The MMSI number is a nine-digit identifier. MMSI numbers issued in Finland begin with the country code 230. The MMSI number is used, among other things, in the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and maritime radio communications.

Ship has IMO number DE-005-02

Select Yes if the vessel has been assigned an IMO number.

If you select Yes, also complete Ship IMO number (DE-005-03).

Ship IMO number DE-005-03

Enter the vessel's IMO number.

The IMO number is a permanent unique identifier for the vessel. It consists of seven digits.

A previously stored IMO number cannot be changed using a SID notification.

If a vessel's IMO number has been recorded incorrectly in NEMO, create a new port call for the correct vessel and continue reporting under that port call. In addition, report the incorrect vessel or IMO number to NEMO Support at nemo.support@fintraffic.fi.

Ship has ENI number DE-005-24

Select Yes if the vessel has been assigned an ENI number.

An ENI number is a unique European identifier for inland waterway vessels.

If you select Yes, also complete ENI number (DE-005-06).

ENI number DE-005-06

Enter the vessel's ENI number according to the vessel's official registration information.

CFR number DE-005-07

Enter the vessel's CFR number if one has been assigned.

The CFR number is the unique identification number used in the EU Community Fishing Fleet Register.

Other ship identifier DE-005-08

Enter another unique vessel identifier if one is used.

The identifier may be used in addition to the vessel's Call Sign, MMSI number, IMO number, ENI number or CFR number. For example, barges may use an identifier assigned by Traficom.
