The deployment schedule of the national Maritime Traffic Notification Service NEMO has been updated. The nationwide deployment of the system has now been confirmed for 1 October 2026. This means that early 2026 is reserved for a pilot run where NEMO will be used in its production environment by pilot organisations, ports and authorities.

The nationwide use of Maritime Traffic Notification Service NEMO, mandatory for all operators, has been confirmed to start on 1 October 2026. This means that all shipping operators will switch to NEMO by then, replacing the current PORTNET notification system.

The new schedule is better suited to user needs, ensuring a smooth transition to NEMO and a successful system deployment from the start.

Pilot organisations, ports and authorities to start using NEMO from the beginning of January

According to the new schedule, pilot organisations will start using NEMO in the production environment between 1 January and 1 March 2026.

Ports and authorities will join the pilot organisations by switching to two parallel systems from 1 January 2026.

The benefits of a longer pilot stage include giving various operators time to finalise their system interfaces and making use of valuable user feedback before the fully deploying NEMO.

We will publish the EMSW training schedule for stakeholders on this website in August 2025.
